What is Aabel Gallery ?

AabelGallery is an online Shop+Gallery that displays the works of Digital Artist & Designer Jonas Aabel. Born in 1980 in Oslo, Norway, with a masters degree in Industrial Design from the Oslo School of Architecture & Design in 2006, Jonas has been pioneering the transition from physical-based media to the new paradigm of digital drawing and painting tools. With many years of experience working as a designer and illustrator for the marine industry, and coming from a higly artisitc famliy, Jonas started experimenting with a new type of digital"abstract expression" during the 2020 covid lockdowns. Inspired by Artists such as "Peter Zimmerman" from Germany and "Gunnar S. Gundersen" from Norway, Jonas were searching for a style that could combine dynamic shapes, transparency, vivid colors and interesting compositions into unique and highly decorative pictures.

What is Digital Art?

Jonas "paints" the pictures on a large screen using Photoshop software. A high skill level in precision drawing is needed to create perfectly smooth and taut lines by hand. Semi-transparent "glass" like sculptural forms are created using different gradient techniqes. Layers with colors and gradients are then added underneath and balanced out using transparancy. The motifs are gradually developed by several rounds of adjustments. The motivation behind this method is to create stunning pieces of dynamic, abstract, digital art where some of the most interesting visual phenomena occur in intersections between the layers of transparancy.

Canvas prints, paper prints and limited production run

The motifs can be purchased as either canvasprints or paperprints and have a limited production run of 300 prints. This means that the combined total of canvas and paper prints will not exceed the limit of 300 regardless of size.
The production facilities are located in the Czech republic and the prints are shipped directly from the factory to the customer.
The production limit of 300 is in place so a level of exclusivity is maintained, and hopefully the artworks will be treated with greater care an regarded as a long term purchase.
